EXPERT WORKSHOP: Genealogy's Community of Practice & Developing Genealogical Education
On Friday 14th, Tahitia McCabe (of Strathclyde University) gave an enlightening talk on Genealogy's Community of Practise. The talk was given as part of the Expert Workshop series, curated by Fiona Fitzsimons, and hosted by the Militry Archives.
Tahitia discussed ways in which genealogy educators can best teach and support students through their journey to become dependable researchers ready to join our community of practice.
She considered what topics courses should teach to be considered credible. For example, citation, using quality sources, ethics and standards of genealogical proof. A thought provoking Q&A ensured that different outlooks were considered.
