This particular guide in its third edition, published in 1859, focuses on the island of Ireland. As most would have arrived into Dublin that is the starting point for the tourist that utilised this guide book. The opening sections of the book describe tours, Ireland, passage from England or Scotland to Dublin and the principal sights of Dublin. A number of guided walks through Dublin are provided and longer excursions from the capital. Other areas of the country that are covered include Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Galway, Sligo and Donegal.
