Published in 1885, the full title of this publication is A Short History of the Kingdom of Ireland, from the Earliest Times to the Union with Great Britain. Written by Charles George Walpole, a barrister, who became Chief Justice in Gibraltar and then the Bahamas. The volume is divided in to six “books” – Independent Ireland, the Anglo-Norman Settlement, the First Conquest, the Second Conquest, the Third Conquest, and the Fourth Conquest. The book ends with the Act of Union.
